Bantam Coach Motivates Players

DSC_0049-1DSC_0240-1COACH TRADES IN CLASSIC FEDORA FOR “PINK MOHAWK”

When head coach Tyler Henke mentioned to the kids that he would shave his head and fancy himself a pink Mohawk, if they won the Beiseker Bantam Tournament, the kids didn’t take him seriously at first.  After winning their first game on Friday night, he repeated the promise, and the kids set off to earn that pink Mohawk !

After taking the semi-final game on Saturday, the stage was set for a final championship game on Sunday.  After overcoming several officiating “hurdles”, and a hostile opposition crowd, the kids pulled off a win, and thus Mr. Henke has traded a tiny little bit of his dignity for the sake of motivating the kids, proving that a little bit of dignity can go a long way.  Great job kids, and great job coaches !

When asked by the media, at the shaving event, why he traded in his classic fedora, and respectful style, for a more pungent punk rock, rebel motif, he replied “I did it for the same reason I wear spongebob square-pants boxers to work, I did it for the ponies, it was all for the ponies!”   When pressed by the media, assistant coaches Robyn Chapman and Tyson Boutin refused to speculate if they had new hair-do’s in the works, only saying that they also had plans to “motivate the kids”, that would be unveiled at a later juncture.
